Purchase a Chromebook for the school by making a donation of $309.
SKDP students, parents, staff and other stakeholders participated in the development of the 1:1 digital learning initiative which will provide Chromebooks for students to use during school hours as well as beyond the school day at multiple sites (for example, at a student’s home, local library, etc.). Beginning with the 2021-22 school year, every SKDP will lease a school-issued Chromebook and use the device to more easily interact with teachers to ask questions, receive feedback, or connect with classmates for group projects. Teachers will have the opportunity to re-imagine their classroom experiences by creating and sharing content using multiple modes of instruction. The technological needs of students have been central to the efforts of the Informational and Instructional Technology (IIT) department at SKDP for years. The IIT team continually works to equip SKDP educators with an array of up-to-date media tools and devices, and has established a variety of mobile technology device carts (i.e., Chromebooks, iPads) that are used by different teachers, across nearly all disciplines and areas of the building.
The 1:1 digital learning initiative at SKDP will provide both students and teachers with more opportunities to strengthen their digital literacy skills as they access the Internet or use the many online research and learning tools already in use at SKDP. Through a phased-in approach to distribution, the 1:1 initiative will help ensure there is adequate funding to provide laptops as well as enough human bandwidth to provide the training, and technical support needed to sustain the program.
